Scholarship Program
In a tribute to the legacy of organ, eye, and tissue donors, Donor Heroes has launched a scholarship program specifically designed for immediate family members of these selfless heroes. This need-based scholarship offers $1,000 to the selected applicant, and the number of scholarships available will depend on successful fundraising efforts.
At Donor Heroes, we recognize the diverse challenges that individuals face in pursuing higher education, especially in the wake of personal loss. Our need-based scholarship stands as a beacon of hope, designed to alleviate the financial burdens associated with continuing education. Importantly, GPA or academic testing performance is not a determining factor in awarding this scholarship, emphasizing our belief in the intrinsic value of every aspiring scholar.
The application period for the scholarship occurs annually from January 1st to March 31st. All applicants will be notified of their application status by May 1st. If selected, the scholarship must be accepted in writing by June 1st, and the awarded funds must be utilized by December 31st of the same calendar year. To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must be under 25 years old and either a high school senior or currently enrolled in a college, university, or trade school. Scholarship applicants have the opportunity to reapply in subsequent years as long as they maintain a passing grade point average.
The scholarship funds cover a spectrum of essential expenses, including tuition, room and board, books, computers, and other approved costs determined by the Donor Heroes Board of Directors. In most cases, the scholarship amount will be paid directly to the educational institution where the recipient is enrolled.
